Our Ranch Custodians

Jordanna Anawalt & Andrew Houghton

Jordanna Anawalt and Andrew Houghton serve as the dedicated Ranch Custodians at Broken Arrow Ranch and Sanctuary, living full-time on the land alongside the horse herds with their dogs, cat, and chickens. Their combined skills, wisdom, and deep commitment to the sanctuary’s mission bring invaluable care and stewardship to the ranch and its equine residents.

Jordanna, a visionary and spiritual guide, has devoted her life to bridging the connection between humans and the natural world. Rooted in her indigenous heritage and guided by profound intuitive gifts, she has become a leading voice in conscious living and Equine Experiential InnerStanding™. From an early age, she was drawn to the mystical and unseen, a journey that deepened after a transformative out-of-body experience in her adolescence. This experience revealed the power of choice and the ability to shape one's own reality.

In 2018, one of her horses imparted a powerful message—highlighting the direct link between global well-being and humanity’s relationship with horses and nature. This realization led her to study indigenous wisdom across Australia, Indonesia, and Hawaii, learning from Medicine Keepers about the sacred interconnectedness of all beings. Inspired by these teachings, she founded CHOICE Tribe LLC, a sanctuary for personal transformation where individuals reconnect with their authentic selves and the natural world. Now, as Herd Manager and Ranch Caretaker at Broken Arrow, she continues this work, advocating for the voices of the horses, the land, and the ancestors.

Andrew brings his hands-on expertise in land stewardship, mechanics, and construction to the sanctuary. A skilled heavy equipment diesel mechanic and welder by trade, he ensures that the ranch’s essential infrastructure remains in top condition. Originally from Grand Haven, Michigan, his love for mountain biking and skiing led him west in his early 20s, where he developed a deep appreciation for the high desert. Horses entered his life when he met Jordanna in 2017, fulfilling his lifelong dream of living on a remote piece of land where he could explore geology, search for artifacts, and create lasting memories.

Together, Jordanna and Andrew embody the spirit of care, restoration, and connection at Broken Arrow Ranch. They are excited to support the sanctuary’s mission, facilitate meaningful experiences for visitors, and help regenerate the land for future generations. With their combined talents in equine husbandry, spiritual guidance, land management, and craftsmanship, they ensure that Broken Arrow Ranch continues to thrive as a sanctuary for both horses and humans alike.
